New Designs for March 2011

If you're on facebook then chances are you've already seen these designs. But for those who visit via The Wedding Stationer website, it'll be a first for you :) These are the latest designs which I've made.

The two invitations in the picture below are made using card with real precious metal pigments, a high quality beautiful card.

Keeping with the high quality the ribbon bows are finished with a Swarovski gem a range of precisely-cut crystal. You can choose to have your names on the front including the date of the wedding.

As each is individually made by hand you can change the design to suit you :)

These are only £3 per invite and bearing in mind the quality, it's a really good price. Remember you don't need an invite per person, only one per household. Many brides often make the mistake of thinking they need one for each guest.

The next design I have put together to be a bit kinder to the budget.

Not only do you get the invitation but there's the menu and rsvp included! So no extra cost, everything you need from your invitation in one price.

These new 3 in 1 invitations are only £2.50 each you can also get matching evening invitations (which just includes invitation details) for £1.50 when you you order them together (normal price £1.90).

If you want something a little different, this invitation is the same style but is that little bit less informal having stars included in the font :) I love them!

Can be made using any colour ribbon did I mention, I have over 55 ribbon swatches to choose from so plenty of choice :)

Muncaster Castle Wedding fair and the origin of favours :)

This Weekend I had the pleasure of exhibiting at the historic and most beautiful venue of Muncaster Castle at the Wedding Fair organised by Lakeland Bride.

I was exhibiting in The Drawing Room along with Simon and Alison from Simon Hudspeth Photography and alongside Maggie and Janice from Maggie D'Silva to name but a few and not forgetting the dozens of presiding, family portraits of ancestors of the Pennington family. I felt like my every move was being watched by their piercing eyes...they say it is haunted, I can see why! eeek!

Having set up on the Friday evening and being told by Sue, a member of staff, about a door handle turning on her, this was enough to give me the Heebie Jeebies! ha...I think this pic took by Mairi Donaldson just captures the eerie feeling.

On a much more positive note, I got to meet many Brides to be and it was also nice to see a few Grooms making the effort and enjoying the day out to plan their special day. One groom asked me a very good question, 'What do the Almonds in favours represent?'. I couldn't remember them all and with Jordan Almonds slowly going out of fashion, I thought I'd do a little bit of my own research to try to keep the tradition alive.

There is a lot of controversial information regarding where the wedding favours originated. My own favourite dates back to Anglo Saxon times where it was believed to be lucky, as well as magical, for guests to receive something from the bride. During the middle ages it was a rarity for a bride to make it to their marital home with her dress intact!!! During the Renaissance it was still seen as lucky for the guests to take home something belonging to the bride, however, it often resulted with the brides dress being destroyed. It was during this period that the Italian brides started adding flowers and bows to their dresses, in the hope that they would finish their wedding day still clothed! This later evolved into giving wedding favours.

For centuries Italian brides have given little bags of confetti and sugar coated almonds known today as Jordan Almonds, representing the bitter-sweet nature of married life. These are given in numbers of five to signify five wishes for the bride and groom:- health; wealth; happiness; fertility and longevity. Nowadays with the diversity of weddings, brides and grooms are looking for new innovative ideas for wedding favours for their guests.

As much as I do love tradition, helping a bride and groom come up with new ideas is very rewarding, and yesterday I did just that with Bride and Groom, Caroline and Steven. I am, obviously, sworn to secrecy for now but really looking forward to working with them and you guys make such a lovely couple :)

Anyway back to the Almonds.....from now on I think having a little poem explaining what the almonds represent... may help to keep the tradition alive so if you like this idea contact me and I'll be happy to make your favours in the traditional way. Any colour bag (to match the colour scheme of your day) filled with 5 white (also tradition) sugar coated almonds attached with a tag with a Jordan Almond poem:

Five sugared almonds for each guest to eat

To remind us that life is both bitter and sweet.

Five wishes for the new husband and his new wife

For health, wealth, happiness, children and long life!

Along with the date of the wedding and the Bride and Grooms names :)

Skiddaw Hotel Wedding Fair 2011

On Sunday we exhibited at one of the Lakeland Bride wedding fairs. It was held at Skiddaw Hotel in the beautiful town of Keswick we met some lovely brides to be..Pam, Samantha and Rachel to name just a few. . .

The Brides and Grooms got to see our new range of stationery and also some of the new wooden shabby chic range of products. All hand painted and finished with a personalised inscription of your choice.

You've all seen our personalised hearts but these lovely boxes are a new design, made so you can keep all your precious memories from your special day. This one I made for myself, I was fed up of having my bridal shoes and tiara kept in a shoe box on top of my wardrobe. Now I can keep them safe in this gorgeous box along with any other keepsakes like my wedding planning book, material swatches, invitations, favours, dried flowers and all our wedding cards and, in fact, any other things kept from the day.

The keepsake boxes are priced at only £38 and would make a lovely wedding gift for that special friend or relative getting married :) or even if you're already married and like me wanted somewhere special to keep all the memories. Luxury Pockets

We have been busy with our new ranges, yes-even in this freezing weather! We have defrosted our brains with nice hot tea and come up with these luxurious designs :)

'The Classic Pocket'

Gorgeous Pocket Invitation made from high quality cardstock with an exquisite jacquard rose bow.

These Invitations come with envelopes, or boxed and covered with lovely glassine paper to give that 'quality' touch.

Inside the pocket is the same jacquard ribbon with a gorgeous personalised monogram just sitting over the invitation.

There can be any number of inserts held in these pockets. Here we have a full menu, and a picture of the whole invitation opened up and contents included :)

'The Elegant Pocket'

Another stunning pocket, this time made from embossed applique design cardstock, with the same idea as the Classic.

A beautiful satin bow tied around the invitation which fuses a mixture of classy fonts to be both modern and elegant at the same time.

Also holds multiple inserts to make sure you really can fit all the important info in and wow your guests at the same time!!

We hope you love these as much as we do... they really add an extra bit of luxury to your guests interpretation of the wedding to come

Shabby Chic Hearts

Paper- fabric- wood.. you name it we love to work with it!

We love Shabby Chic, anything distressed and subtle that gives a feeling of cosiness and homeliness, this is why we have created these cute wooden hearts (13 x 14cm), hanging from rustic plaited twine with backgrounds that hint at the occasion- or just look cute!!

Home Sweet Home- I have actually got this hanging in my home.. and many of my guests comment on 'how it would look sweet in their homes' (hint hint!!)

Perfect gift for a newborn baby, would look adorable hanging in his/her little nursery and being made of quality thick wood, it would last forever... alternatively could be a christening gift..or even for a 1st birthday.

Here's the Bridesmaid one :) As we love all things wedding we think this is fab to give to those girls who have supported you through the exciting

(but sometimes tough) time of wedding planning and have shined on the big day as lovely patient Bridesmaids! :)

"I Can Sing A Rainbow..."

Actually we can't, our singing is very bad!.. but these save the dates on the other hand are very good ;) of course we are going to say that, but check them out for yourself...

This is our new "Rainbow Range" colourful save the date cards.

They can be given as a flat card or why not get us to add a magnetic strip on the back so your guests can stick it on their fridge and brighten up these dull mornings with a splash of colour ...

whilst at the same time- reminding them of your special date!

You could order all of one colour or if it's too hard to choose order every colour! Really get your guests guessing what's to be expected from your big day :) they come with envelopes too.

We also do co-ordinating stationery for those brides and grooms that want something different and modern for their day.

Hill Foot Hotel Wedding Fair 2010

Our first wedding fair was on Sunday at Hill Foot Hotel Ulverston. We worked really hard to make our stand look as lovely as possible! We framed our logo in an antique silver style frame which we hoped would set the tone for our whole stall!

Popular wedding colour burgundy made gorgeous with some sparkle! (of course :)

These are two of the wall displays we had - pink and vintage what could be better!

(The infamous Jar of Wishes!)

More couples are choosing to have jars of sweets so the guests can help themselves - why not have a jar of mints on each table, add a cup of tea/coffee and you have a 4th course to your meal :)

'Eat Me' mints on our table to tempt passers by! (complete with cute bowl)

Lovely for a wedding reception when you've married abroad - or - if you just love the beach !

Proved to be a popular choice - simple yet elegant - LOVE this pearl embellishment.

Two of our newest designs - very vintagey feel - the yellow opens up to reveal a cute rsvp slip perforated to easily remove along with all the invitation details.

The only word to describe these favour boxes - 'GORGEOUSNESS' :) Sparkle and lace and pearls and ribbon, what more could a bride want ...{heart} it.

Our latest creation - 'Elegant Rose', combining all things vintagey and pretty along with a touch of elegance. Perfect invitation for any gorgeous bride.

"The Wedding Of The Year"

We have been neglecting our blog lately with good reason ...Lisa has finally tied the knot!! hence we have been very busy designing "The Wedding of the year"!

Being the creative people we are :) we designed and made everything from invitations to the cake and everything else in between!

The day pocket invitations...

The Jar of Wishes was a guestbook with a twist!..... every guest got given a heart shaped notelet to make a 'wish' for the happy couple...

then once collected they were given a raffle wish ticket.

After the wedding breakfast a number was drawn

out of a hat..(aka cute paper bag!)

and the winner received a bottle of wine and a treat jar full of yummy chocs

To make sure every guest knew of the wishes,

we reminded them cutely with a little rhyme

tied to the birdcages which were the table centrepieces,

they tied in well with the slightly

vintagey feel of some of the elements of the wedding.

we both thought they

had a 'vintage garden tea party!' feel :)

Continuing with the Vintageness (if that's a word!?) these hand dried roses made a beautiful and unique placecard which wowed the guests.

Cute boxes held favours for the guests, the men got a Ferrero Rocher, the children got Love Hearts and the ladies being the most appreciative of cuteness :) got a vintagey pink votive candle.

We the decorated the candles with a pink bow and two cute little tags with initials and date of the wedding.

Last but not least the wedding cake .....

which of course had to be PINK!! :)

Special Party Invitations....

Hi, today we have pictures of a special set of invitations we have recently made. They are for a very special occasion..... Donna is 30!!! (or will be soon) Woo hoo!!

We have gone for a hot pink, black and white theme and wanted to make them quite fun and modern.

Here are all the '30s' together- we have dotted

round the edges so that the white card doesn't look bare

And here they all are after production!

Abbey House Ladies Night

Last Thursday we exhibited at The Abbey House Hotel Ladies Night along with other local businesses. It was our first time for having a stall at an event. We both had an enjoyable evening meeting new people and getting to show off all our hard work, our wedding stationery and our new range of handcrafted products.

Thank you to all that were there and took the time to view our stall.

There were many brides to be who were impressed with our stationery, 'you know who you are' we look forward to hearing from and working with you to design your perfect stationery.
